Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
As part of a coordinated operation by Howrah City Police and Taaza TV's surveillance team, two accused—Manarul and Anarul, brothers of absconding accused Phultusi—were arrested from a multi-storey housing complex in Domjur’s Munshidanga area. The arrest was carried out by officers from Bankra police outpost, under the ongoing investigation into the assault case involving a young woman from Sodepur.
The main accused—Aryan, Shweta Khan, and Mashirul—remain absconding. According to police, they are suspected to have fled abroad. Efforts are ongoing to locate them, and teams are conducting raids at multiple suspected hideouts. Investigators are currently awaiting court permission to access CCTV footage from Shweta Khan’s residence for further evidence.
Police have also collected a sample of hair from behind Shweta Khan’s flat in Fakirpada, Bankra. The sample is being sent for forensic examination. The case includes allegations of physical assault and hair cutting of the victim, and the investigation is being supervised by the Bankra Investigation Centre.
